Garrettsville Fire

During the 2014 Opening Ceremony of Garrettsville’s annual street fair, “Summerfest”, Mayor Rick Patrick officially opened the festival. He and Summerfest organizer Aaron King welcomed Cheryl Abraham, James Seaborn, Tommy Abraham and Jessica Kohler-Podojil of Charles Auto Family in Garrettsville to the stage for a special presentation. For every car they sold from April 15 to May 31, $100 was put aside to donate to the owners of the 13 businesses that were destroyed in the fire. Any interruption of business can negatively impact business owners and employees. The devastating fire destroyed or heavily damaged the buildings that lined Garrettsville’s Main Street from Center to High Street on March 22, 2014. It took the effort of 34 fire departments to battle the blaze. The fire left business owners and employees displaced and some have lost their livelihood. In this time of many uncertainties, Charles Auto Family wants to make certain that it stands behind and supports our neighbors in their time of need.

This support effort is not associated with The “Garrettsville Strong Fund” established by The Garrettsville Area Chamber of Commerce.
